Facebook have just released Caffe2, an open source artificial intelligence (AI) development framework.

It has been optimised for deep learning applications on mobile and low-end devices. Such tools were until recently only suitable for high-end data centres and supercomputers but with this lightweight version, machine learning applications are possible on  iOS, Android, and Raspberry Pi devices.

Possible applications are speech recognition, computer vision, statistical analysis, internet of things (IoT) apps and many more. "We're committed to providing the community with high-performance machine learning tools so that everyone can create intelligent apps and services" Facebook said in a blog entry on the Caffe2 website.
